A note from the Artistic Director, Cole NeSmith
I have so much gratitude to work alongside so many talented people everyday. And they deserve top billing in this section of the program. A massive "thank you" to the talent that has come together for this show. Some of these collaborators - like Greg Perkins, Aradhana Tiwari, Melyssa Marshall, Chelsea Harris and Julian Bond - are people I’ve had the joy of knowing for decades. And for others, it’s the joy of the new… collaborating for the first time.
This show is about 2 passions of mine - sound and light. I’ve spent most of my life carrying these 2 elements with me. Sound and light have moved me as a recipient of their power. And they have been creative tools I’ve had the joy of exploring, harnessing and experimenting with. Both sound and light have power within them to move us.
Wavelength is also about the intersection of those 2 passions. There’s something magical about intersection. When any 2 things come together, something that wasn’t there before comes to life. A unique moment, expression and experience is born. And, tonight during this show, I hope you encounter something unexpected. Whether it’s a joyful sound you hear or a beautiful sight you see or a moment when those 2 things come together to move you. I hope you experience the power of sound and light tonight.
Thank you to André Vargas Roo who has been an amazing collaborator on the visual experience. Thanks to Melyssa for always carrying the weight of every detail with grace and resolve. Welcome Ha’ani Hogan to this team as a brand new partner in the work of Creative City Project. Thank you Mariah Lynn Roberts for these several years of side-by-side collaboration. Thanks Chris Keough, for your incredible talent and arrangements that really inspired a creative spark to become something much bigger. Thank you, Justin Muchoney for your collaborative spirit - always willing to go on a creative adventure. Thank you, Darryl Phillips and the entire APAV team for always coming alongside us to support us technically. Thanks to the entire Dr Phillips Center team for everything you do. Thank you to every musician and technician.
And thank YOU. Thanks for joining us at Creative City Project for another creative adventure!
