EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:

A night of stories & spirits. Four writers’ original works are paired with custom cocktail tastings, designed to bring a new level of immersion into the art of fiction. Live jazz music, an intimate atmosphere, and incredible storytelling combine to create a one of a kind evening.

ANTHOLOGY features stories from Burrow Press Authors

Burrow Press is the literary publisher of Stetson University’s MFA of the Americas program, focusing on collaboration, translation, and literature in the expanded field. They publish award-winning poetry and prose in print (3-4 times a year) and online (weekly) in Burrow Press Review. Since 2010, BP has provided over 1,400 opportunities for writers to publish and share their work.

Brianna
Johnson

Brianna Johnson's stories have appeared or are forthcoming in Cosmonauts Avenue, Gigantic Sequins, The Molotov Cocktail, Wigleaf, Kenyon Review, Obsidian: Literature & Arts in the African DiasporaSplit Lip Magazine, and elsewhere. An alum of the Tin House Summer Workshop, she is a two-time Pushcart Prize nominee with work longlisted for the Wigleaf Top 50. An MFA graduate from The University of Tampa, she teaches composition at Full Sail University. 

Shane Hinton

Shane Hinton’s debut story collection Pinkies was selected as a finalist for a 2016 Firecracker Award in Fiction by the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses. He is the the author of the novel Radio Dark, editor of the anthology We Can’t Help It If We’re From Florida, and a fiction editor for Tampa Review. Hinton teaches writing at The University of Tampa and lives in the winter strawberry capital of the world.

Melanie Farmer

Melanie Farmer is a Central Florida writer and educator who holds an MFA in creative nonfiction from the University of Central Florida. She is the winner of a 2019 Intro Journals Award from the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP), and is the 2020 winner of the Hurston/Wright Foundation’s Crossover Award in literary nonfiction. Currently, you can find her essays in The Tampa Review and Split Lip Magazine. She recently served as the creative nonfiction fellow at Longleaf Writers Conference and is the director of the Visiting Writers Series at Trinity Prep School. Her award-winning essay “Rolling: A Ladies’ Guide to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu” will be published in chapbook form by Burrow Press in 2022.

Danielle Ziss

Danielle Ziss is a writer, director, and artist. She writes in both creative and technical fields. Her work has been viewed all around Orlando, including at Orlando Fringe, FusionFest, Mead Gardens, and CityArts. She is one of the creative directors and co-hosts of Orlando Story Club, Central Florida’s only storytelling competition show. Artistically, Ziss is drawn to the universal themes of self-forgiveness and human connection. She’s an avid traveler who has lived all over the US, but considers Orlando home - not because she loves Florida, but because she loves the people in Orlando..

Will Adrian Trio

Will Adrian and his band, which include Jeremy Birdsall and Leon Morgan, are a celebrated group originated in Orlando Florida. Gathering their influences from Chet Baker, Chris Botti, Harry Connick Jr. and Leon Bridges, they have cultivated a sound that appeals to all kinds of people. They have performed across the region and venues such as the Dr. Phillips Center in Downtown Orlando. Recently the group has performed at festivals such as the Winter Park Arts Festival and the Get your Jazz on event at the Alfond Inn. They have held residencies at popular venues in the Orlando area including Mathers Social Gathering, Celine, and The Vineyard. They have opened up for artists such as Tito Puente Jr., Eric Darius, and Cloves.
